John Stockton : David amongst Goliaths

John Stockton

6 foot 1 and 175 pounds and a heart that ways a ton!

Nov 22, 2004 the Utah Jazz retired the #12
to the rafters:

Career Stats:

Games played: 1504, FG% .515, 3PFG%.384, FT% .826, Total Rebs 4051, RPG 2.7 Total Asts 15,806, APG 10.5, Total Stls 3265, Blks 315, Total Pts 19711, PPG 13.1.

They way this guy left the game was on his terms. He looked at a reporter with his eyes full of tears 2 years ago said " This is it".
Stockton got no big send off that the league enjoys doing for the all-time greats. He did not get a car or piece of the parquay floor. He probably would not want all that hoopla anyways. He kinda reminds me of Barry Sanders just chill. Contemptment comes from within.

Stockton just walked away from the game he loved as one of the best to play his position.

Stockton was the master of the DISH. While others mastered various all around traits, Stockton kept it simple and became a genius of the true component of the game the 'PASS". His passes were to your chest plain and simple. Like Naismith would want. I can truly say in all my days watching ball, I never seen Stockton make a bad pass in any situation. His passes were never flashy or behind the back. They were just fundamental sound with precision and vision. He always put his teammates in the best position to succeed.

Annoucers for years just yelled Stockton to Malone like it was a hallmark greeting card!

His vision was impechous, his pride never wavered. I respect the #12 like no other. I remember many sunday afternoons, I would root against him because he was so simple and plain.

He was competitor a good baller, warrior and a honest teammate who never got tilted by the
money and the fame. Lick two shots in the air for the #12.

Let's bow our heads and give a moment of silence to the small, no baggy shorts wearing kid from
Gonzaga! A CLASS ACT

Basketball Supreme: 10 Day NBA Overview-Nov 2-12, 2004.

Yes, the past 10 days in the association has been interesting . Basketball is back!

Kats are glued to the TV, fantasy websites, boxscores and updating their mobile palm devices.

"Some thing have changed and some things have not"! Like Mos Def would say

In the first 2 weeks we know this

Dirk is still a monster
Grant Hill and Zo exemplies courage and strength.

Like Dickie V said Artest and Sprewell are on crack. I am not going to waste blog space on Artest more than this but did you see how they got blown out! the same night he trying to turn himself into Puffy. Artest is a fool. But remember Sprewell cannot feed his kids. Stay tuned!!

KG IS A FANTASY LEGEND ! 24.8 PPG 15.40 RPG 7.0 Assist
A double double in every game played! 5 games. Second in the association in field goals made. Seventh in scoring and tenth in the assists. UNSTOPPABLE!
KG IS strickly a BADBOY!! and a GUN MAN. He had been annoited the Chairmen of the

KILL BILL TEAM 05

Shaq looks a little sluggish. Loss the weight but not in basketball shape yet! Looked good in Dallas game although Dirk showned all the Thursday TNT crowd that he is the GERMAN Assassin.

Dwayne Wade responded to Arenas allegations of being soft with a
37 Points 12 Dimes 8 Boards on 68% shooting! I saw this game in person
D-WADE is the truth! cannot be stopped when he is ready!

In Toronto, The Street are asking for Sam Mitchell jersey! Solid contributions from the bench, Rafer, and finally a mobile BIG Men in Loren Woods. Respect everytime.
My boy Veterans caught this qoute by Mitchell after the UTAH game.

Sam Mitchell: (in response to benching Jalen Rose and Vinsanity in the 4th quarter)

"I DON'T SEE NAMES ON THE BACK OF THE JERSEYS, ALL I SEE IS THE TORONTO RAPTORS ON THE FRONT."

Did you see the Lebron's dunk on Stevie Hunter? Lebron has turned into the long lost member of the WU-Tang Clan. RZA was hiding him in the 36 chambers & just unleashed him in the 2K

Lebron also brought his team back from 19 Points with Z-ILLY with good health and dropping the trey from deep! Z looked like the Dream for a minute! Clutch

Did you see Mr.Prince's DUNK in the Detroit/Philly game along the baseline?. DETROIT looked ganster with the heavyweight championship belt around their waist while receiving their bling bling rings.

Did you peep that the Pistons owner William M Davidson gave Corliss Williamson his ring to a standing O . Respect everytime on the gesture! Pistons have alot of pride....

Did you see the Stevie Franchise Dunk in DC?

Zach Randolph let off on Toronto. Shareef claims he is happy in Portland? What
Not if Aaron Goodwin had is way?

The Knicks coaches are feuding like Jay Z and R Kelly on Tour!

Mike Miller or Bonzi Wells: Jerry West & Hubie have different views

SOS: It is confirmed Johnny Davis cannot coach! I would look good if I had the Franchise.

Dwight Howard is a monster. The next prodigy! To intelligent too soon! Footwork is solid lacks Defense positionally but that will come real soon. Howard is in a great situation with strong mentorship!

Luke Ridnour looks good according to my boy Guerilla Pimp (www.noirmovments.com) Plug
Luke does not play well on the road. But he is quick and can set up the O for a sub par team.

HOT
Amare Stoudemire
Chauncey Billups
Bobby Simmons
Dwyane Wade
Maurice Williams
Keith McLeod

COLD
Vince Carter but playing smart.
Yao Ming (Overrated)
Mike Bibby
Adonal Foyle is a Bust! PE said Don't Believe the Hype!
Peja
Jerry Stackhouse
Carmelo till last night

Post your comments Holla Back! I need the feedback!! Good or Bad holla

Lipton Supreme mantaining like De La Soul! Peace...

The Loss Art of the Jump Shot... Dying Breed....

Good shooters in the NBA; Can be compared to finding a needle in a haystack! The art of jump shooting is long gone. There is still a dying breed left. Peja, Ray Allen, Michael Redd, Dirk, Brent Barry come to mind. But the days of Reggie Miller in his prime Eddie Johnson, Del Curry, Jeff Hornacek, Dennis Scott, Bird and the Pearson brothers are long gone. The OK coral had nothing on them. Quickly, name a current young player that is a three-point specialist? Kerr, Paxson, Hersey Hawkins, Detlef, Petrovic and Craig Hodges in his normal t shirt at all-star weekend are long gone...

Today kids are purely concerned with athleticism, size and speed. In most recent years purist watch the pro game and marvel at the declining shooting percentages. They sit shaking their heads in disgust at current player’s jump shots, lack of rotation and most importantly shot selection. With the globalization, commercialism and recent And 1 hype machine. Today kids are not focusing on their jays. They are solely concerned with their handles, dribbles and first-step. All good but when you elevate for a shot. It looks horrid and takes away from the art form. AU coaches and grassroots teachers do not enforce the science and mechanics. I know they try because they teach for the love and passion of the game. But, in 2004 kids emulate Lebron who is the truth but is a prodigy, one of a kind, special, and 240lbs of muscle at the age of 18yrs. ESPN likes to show kids clamoring and running up and down after buses idolizing Hot sauce and Professor like their at the pinnacle of their profession. No disrespect,It is much overdue they deserve their money, hype and the entertainment is needed . Oh yeah don't forget that Moutain Dew is Code Red! But, even Skip to my LOU had to work and improve on his shooting and fundamentals to get his big contract to finally secure a basketball home. Street Ball is pure and the essence of the game, but it also sends mix messages. Times have surely changed folklore stories of street, urban, suburban and Midwest kids staying up all-day to perfect their jump shot.

are Long gone… Cats are getting drafted in the league now because of vision TJ Ford, Telfair and Livingston are proof of the sudden drop. People forget that Lebron behind the scenes works out with NIKE in the summer taking 2000 shots a day to with a certified shooting instructor. NIKE invested in the kid and must see immediate returns. I miss the days of true solid ball rotation with the kick out to Stockton,

Tim Hardaway and Reggie Miller who consistently gun-down opponents and put their gun finger in their hips. College coaches can’t teach the art any more. Coach K, Knight, Calhoun and Roy Williams beg kids to stay longer than a semester. Yes the art form is loss. Gone like the wind. You notice the young ballers in the league lack the fundamentals. In the 60’s 70’s 80’s and early 90’s players prided themselves on form, mechanics, a rotation and results. Ray Allen feels " REPETITION is the key". The NBA wants to improve scoring but they need to improve on clinics, grassroots teaching and solid summer programs with certified teachers. Will they? Or will they just go oversees… and look for the lost jump shot across the Atlantic.
